Howard Alfred Carlson

April 29, 1942 — July 8, 2022

Howard Carlson A servant of the Lord Born April 29, 1942 in Marshall, Iowa and lived until July 8, 2022. Howard’s dad Roy was a Lutheran Minister at Zion Lutheran Church 1929-1930 where he met Amyr. Family ties ran deep and every year their whole family would travel to stay with Amyr’s mom, Anna Wahlberg. Howard was a fun youth and was talented in Music. He attended a music conservatory during the 1950’s. Howard was also very proud that he appeared as an extra in several Hollywood movies and carried a list of them in his wallet to share with any eager listener. Howard and his mom, Amyr, joined Our Redeemer Church in the 1970’s. Howard had overcome polio, COVID 19, the loss of brothers, his dad and mom. Our Redeemer Church was very good to Howard. After his Mom passed in 1993, Our Redeemer was so kind and became his family. Howard was so involved in the music, choirs and activities at Our Redeemer. He was a hard cheerful worker doing many things around the church. His living family is Our Redeemer friends and of coarse his cousins. 7 Things we learned from Howard: Always be prepared to share a funny joke, no matter how many times they heard it. Always share what you have, even with strangers Always be open to creating new music with full orchestration Cook as many cookies as you can for Christmas Play hymns on the piano and organ because it brings joy into the room Always have a smile and be willing to help Share the Lord on beaches and buses and everywhere you go.
