Jose M. Tapia

It is with great sadness that the family of Sergeant Jose “Meno” M. Tapia announces his passing on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at the age of 60 years old. Jose will be lovingly remembered by his sister Beneranda and brothers George, Jaime, and Jesse. He will also be fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews. Jose was preceded in death by his father Felipe, mother Giorgia Abigail, brother Salvador, brother Refugio, and brother Mario.

Sgt. Tapia's experience in the Marines played an especially important role in his life. He frequently pointed out that the Marine Corps taught him the value of discipline, teamwork, and investing in a cause larger than himself. He was a brave and loyal soldier with several accommodations and medals. He was honorably discharged in 1993 after serving 10 years in the United States Marine Corps as a Helicopter Structures Mechanic.

Jose’s generosity was appreciated by his family and friends. He often shared his knowledge and experiences with his nieces and nephews. He taught many of them how to fish, garden, smoke cigars, cook, shoot rifles, identify gemstones, among many other things.

A Funeral Service in memory of Jose will be held on Thursday, February 11, 2021 at 1:00 p.m., at Richardson Peterson Funeral Home on Ontario, Ca. Interment will follow with a gravesite service at 2:30 p.m., at Bellevue Memorial Park in Ontario, CA.
