Marynes “Inez” Diaz was taken up by the Lord on June 5Th, 2025 after succumbing to a cancer battle in which she bravely faced. She was 73 years of age.
Those who were blessed to know her would know that she was a dedicated mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, daughter, friend, and long-standing church member
Marynes was born in Cojutepeque, El Salvador to Rosaura Garcia and Nicolas Diaz on March 11,1952. She would smile as she recollected time spent in her youth with her father tending to the family farm, indulging in the sugar cane and juicy mangos that were grown there. Between obtaining a Cosmetology diploma, helping around the house, being a sister to 10 siblings, and having a good laugh with friends, she still found time to join the local congregation. This led her to adopt a lifelong Catholic faith, and a love for Christ.
It was in Salvador where she started her own family. Mario, who was her firstborn, then Luis. Her two boys were the love of her life, driving her in their youth to make a change that would benefit her family, and allow her boys opportunities as they got older. She decided to pack up her life in Salvador, and move to Los Angeles, California.
When she arrived in Los Angeles, she was able to use the skills she had been taught and practiced since she was young, to start work quickly as a seamstress. A passion that would remain for many decades. As she saw her boys grow up, she decided she wanted to give her children the blessing of having more siblings. The same blessings she had known growing up. With that decision made, it wasn’t long before her first daughter Zully was born. Seeing her family grow brought her joy, and out of that continuing joy, Ronald “Ronny”, and Yenmie were born. Their births would complete the family that she had wanted.
She was a dedicated mother throughout their life, working hard to provide. She worked various shifts and even opened her own home business selling food. As her grandchildren were born, she would always offer to help nurture and care for them when needed. She was also a faithful member of the Nativity Catholic Church. She’d attend service multiple times a week, travel to conventions, and help cook for the congregation. She did all that she did for everyone with love and grace.
Marynes was preceded in death by her granddaughter Samantha Diaz and is survived and will be greatly missed by her children, Mario (Analia) Diaz, Luis (Claudia) Diaz, Zully (Anibal) Chavez, Ronny (Jessica) Tapia, and Yenmie (Cody) Stevenson. Her grandchildren, Vannesa, Eli, Krystal, Mario Jr, Jason, Mia, Amy, Demian, Alexis, Gabby, Olivia, Zoey, Kaleo, and Collin. As well as her great-grandchildren, Nathan, Abigail, Joellyn, Fernando, Emmanuel, and Mary Amelia.
