In loving memory of Monalisa Martinez 08/10/1973-04/08/2025
We celebrate the life of a devoted mother , daughter , cousin and lifelong friend who won the battle against cancer and gained her wings on April 8 2025. Monalisa was known to everyone as the life of the party and someone who always had a smile on their face no matter what life challenges she faced. Monalisa was born in Boyle Heights ca on August 10 1973.
Monalisa lived every day to her full capacity, anyone who was blessed with her presence truly felt loved and welcomed by her. She was kind , resilient and loved unconditionally.
She is survived by her mother Rosa Elena Duarte, her treasured daughters Krystal Monique Cruz . Maria Elena Cruz and her treasure son Adrian Lorenzo Morales and her 10 most treasured grandchildren Audrinna, Ricardo, Alyssa, Julian, Ivan, Angel, Ruben, Andrew, Emiliano And Elia who were her pride and joy. She is also remembered by her siblings Andres and Rene, as well as many cousins , nieces and nephews and friends who loved and adored her deeply.
Monalisa was the light that lit up any room , her words of encouragement her love her support were felt near and far from oldest to smallest. She was the glue that kept her family together. The person that arranged every family gathering. She put everyone's needs before her own. She raised 3 strong kids on her own and helped raise her grandchildren as well she was the true definition of a CHINGONA who represented Sonora her families roots like no other.
She fought her battle against cancer for the last 2 years of her life and although she knew her sickness was terminal, she remained positive and so full of life. trusting Gods plan whole heartedly and with so much faith. Anyone that crossed paths with her during her diagnosis could not believe she was fighting that tough battle because she fought like a champ and remained hopeful.
Her time here on earth was far too short, but her love and memories she left behind will be with us forever. I hope that if any of you got to know her felt her love and compassion and I ask that you all live life to the fullest just as she did.
Un dia a la vez
and remember to her there was only one nation, RAIDER NATION.
